H.R. No. 991

	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Rachel Fleming retired from the Denton
	Police Department on March 31, 2023, concluding an outstanding
	career with the agency that spanned 25 years; and
	WHEREAS, After being hired as a patrol officer in 1998,
	Deputy Chief Fleming was named the community relations officer for
	southern Denton in 2002; two years later, she joined the Criminal
	Investigations Division, where she spent 12 years investigating
	financial and narcotics offenses; in 2016, she was promoted to
	sergeant, and she subsequently led a night shift patrol unit for two
	years; and
	WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Fleming has further benefited the
	department through her work as its special events coordinator,
	student resource officer sergeant, and family services sergeant;
	after being promoted to lieutenant in 2019, she began supervising
	the jail, student resource officers, fleet, warrants office, and
	technology for the department, as well as its quartermaster
	program; in 2021, she was promoted to deputy chief, and she has
	since been placed in command of the Support Bureau; and
	WHEREAS, While pursuing her own career goals, Deputy Chief
	Fleming has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the
	ambitions of other officers and supervisors; she has served as a
	certified instructor in the Basic Peace Officer Academy and has
	also been active in the department's self-defense program for
	members of the community; and
	WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Rachel Fleming's dedication,
	integrity, and commitment to protecting and serving the public have
	greatly benefited the citizens of Denton and earned her the respect
	and admiration of her colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with
	pride on a career well spent as she embarks on the next exciting
	chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
	Legislature hereby congratulate Deputy Chief Rachel Fleming on her
	retirement from the Denton Police Department and extend to her
	sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Deputy Chief Fleming as an expression of high regard by
	the Texas House of Representatives.
